Grand Isle Lake House

Our Favorite Vermont Farm!

We are so very lucky here at the Lake House to have Jane & Bob Pomykala as our neighbors on the East Shore of Grand Isle on Lake Champlain.  They have been supplying us with gorgeous asparagus, strawberries, tomatoes (hot-house & vine-ripened), potatoes, fresh herbs, perfect baby field greens….the list goes on and on!  We always check with Jane to see what she has to offer before out-sourcing any produce from the “mainland” for our Vermont weddings!

Please visit their farmstand when you are in Grand Isle or check them out at the Farmers Markets (Wednesday afternoons in the village of South Hero and Saturdays in Burlington’s City Hall Park) starting in May.

I worked for the Pomykalas 5-10 years ago, one summer full-time and on weekends for a few more years. I learned a great deal about growing vegetables and running a farm. It was always a lot of fun to boot!

I now live in Boston, where farmer’s markets are more popular each year. I’ve never seen one down here that matched the variety Bob and Jane grow in Grand Isle.
