Megan & Matt ~ June 13th, 2009

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Wow! is all I can say about this wedding.  The weather worked out perfectly in every way, and this was truly a beautiful day.  I think one of the most memorable moments was when Megan and Matt took a canoe ride out into the sunset.  The sky turned the most beautiful purple~orange at just the right time, and to quote their photographer, Daria Bishop, “It was like angels singing just for them”.  It really was amazing, and Megan had on perfect attire – a gorgeous wedding dress and high heeled wellies.  We hope they are also having a perfect honeymoon in Ireland.  Congratulations Megan and Matt!

Lake’s End Cheeses

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Located North of the Lake House in Alburgh, on the shores of Lake Champlain, Lake’s End Dairy makes great goat cheeses using exclusively their own milk….delicious!

Joanne also makes her own chocolates that could make great wedding favors for the less humid months (May, September & October).

Visit their shop which is open 10 Am – 7 Pm, mid June through Labor Day.

First Wedding of the Season

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

We were off to a slow start this year, but we are now off and running!  Kate and Shawn’s wedding on Saturday, June 6th was picture perfect, with warm, sunny weather and lots of lawn games with close family and friends.  Their cake was one of the most unique I have seen, and it tasted amazing as well.  Angel’s Cakes made it, and it was our first time seeing them at the Lake House.  I would highly recommend them!

We wish Kate and Shawn all the best in Iowa City as they start their life together.

The Perfect Spring Wedding at the Grand Isle Lake House

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Fiona and Mahlon had their fabulous wedding two years ago at the Lake House, and it remains one of our favorites.  The flowers showcased the best of Spring in Vermont – lilacs, lily of the valley, tulips, white peonies….  Dennis and Ellen Curran took some amazing photographs and we have used many of their photos from this wedding throughout our web-site.  Our apple tree was in full bloom and all the guests experienced Vermont in all its’ Spring glory!
