Edible Spring Flowers

We always look forward to our annual chive bed  blossoming in beautiful lavender flowers that can be used for both final garnish as well as a wonderful chivey zing!   Bev will also tend and harvest edible flowers from several pansy, violet and nasturium plants to we will use to add that special touch to platters and salads.

Jenny & Paul ~ 7.25.09

This was an incredibly gorgeous wedding!  One of my favorite colors is pale pink, and Jenny used this color to perfection throughout her wedding.  The pink sash on Jenny’s dress was a beautiful touch and Flowers in Season did a wonderful job as always – the flowers complemented everything perfectly.  Even the cake from Mirabelle’s was raspberries and cream – all the elements were fresh and beautiful.

Paul and Jenny live in Boston, and we had such a great time working with them.  I’m hoping to have some photos to post of their day – check back soon!

Lindsay & Caleb ~ 7.19.09

A wonderful couple – Lindsay a newly graduated medical student, and Caleb, who works on the family farm – had a lovely day for a wedding at the Lake House.  The couple danced to “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” – very apropos for these two!  Their menu consisted of some of my own personal favorites:  Black Bean & Corn Empanadas with Salsa Cream, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, and Vermont Apple & Brie Stuffed Chicken Breast with Maple~Ginger Sauce.  So delicious!!

We wish Lindsay and Caleb all the best as they embark on their life together, and possibly take over the family farm?!

Ashley & Alex ~ 7.12.09

This was a wonderful celebration with so many fun and beautiful elements.  Alex is a  lighting designer in Boston, and her friends all banded together to execute her vision of  a dance floor on the lawn, lit with a canopy of white lights.  It was a gorgeous night, and the Lake House never looked so beautiful.  Alex and Ashley also wanted the trees on the outskirts of the lawn uplit, and so the guests danced the night away on a perfect summer evening.  Congratulations Ashley and Alex!

Melanie & Mike ~ 7.4.09

Another uncharacteristically cold day, especially for the 4th, but this was truly a beautiful wedding!  Melanie chose light pink, dark pink and light green paper lanterns and flowers, and the combination was just gorgeous.  Although we had lots of folks huddled around the fireplace early on, they warmed up with lots of dancing and great company.  We wish Mel and Mike all the best!!!

Kaylie & Adam ~ 7.3.09

Butterfly Kisses!

Butterfly Kisses!

Although the weather was uncharacteristically cold, this wedding had a warm feel because of the love and happiness the guests felt for Kaylie and Adam.  They are a sweet couple who now live in North Carolina, but wanted to be surrounded by family and friends in Vermont for their wedding day.  Kaylie and her Dad enjoyed a dance together on our porch to Butterfly Kisses, and while they were dancing, the guests all released monarch butterflies.  It brought a tear to everyone’s eye, including mine!  We wish Kaylie and Adam all the best as they start their new life together.

Fall Means Apple Pies!

There are many things we love about fall at the Lake House and we especially look forward to serving Papa Ray’s Apple Pies!  Handmade using only their own apples with the best crust ever!  Allenholm Farm is located in South Hero.  They have a small farm store featuring both their own and other great VT products as well as a small animal petting paddock.  Maple Creamies too!  Stop in and check them out when you are visting the Champlain Islands.

Raspberry Mojitos in August

Bev & Sheryl going above and beyond the call of duty; being forced to test the first batch of a specially requested raspberry mojito for a wedding in early August. Fortunately, Russ (in background) & Sue were still hard at work!  Garnished with fresh raspberries & mint, they proved to be delicious & just gorgeous to boot!
